As we study the Bible we discover the first act of obedient faith is to believe in and accept Jesus Christ as both LORD GOD OF THE UNIVERSE as well as our personal Savior from sin. That is an inward act of faith that has an outworking of prayer asking the Lord Jesus to come into our lives and be our Good Shepherd (Romans 10:8-13; John 10). As the Good Shepherd the first outward act of faith that He leads His sheep to is water baptism (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41; 8:12-13).
The Bible teaches water baptism is not the means of salvation but an illustration of salvation. The individual being baptized is not doing so to be saved but is doing so because he/she has already made the saving decision of accepting Jesus Christ into their lives.
Baptism illustrates the means of an individual’s salvation which is and was and forever will be the death, burial and resurrection of the LORD Jesus Christ ( 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 1 Peter 3:21; Romans 6:3-6).
We see a person sincerely desires to surrender to God and follow Him when they publicly identify with the Son of God in water baptism by immersion. It is the first step of obedience for every new believer (Acts 2:38). Have you been Scripturally baptized since receiving Jesus Christ? Please allow us the privilege of giving you the opportunity to follow Jesus in believer’s baptism if you have not already done so! contact us
